Mentai Park Oarai

Mentai Park Oarai, operated by major mentaiko producer Kanefuku, is a unique food-themed attraction in Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, dedicated to the beloved Japanese delicacy of spicy cod roe. Entry to the park is free, and visitors are invited to observe the full production process through a large glass-walled factory where around 100 workers process more than five tons of mentaiko daily. Interactive features, including a floor projection that mimics walking on a fish pond, make the experience engaging and educational for all ages. A mentaiko gallery presents the history and culture of this culinary staple, while a direct-sales store offers freshly made products straight from the factory. The on-site cafe and food court serve creative mentaiko-inspired dishes ranging from rice balls and dumplings to novelty ice cream, and a Kids Land area provides additional entertainment for young visitors.
