Mariposario de Níjar is a charming live butterfly garden located in the rural Almería municipality of Níjar, southern Spain. Around 200 exotic butterflies fly freely through the garden, allowing visitors to observe the complete life cycle of these fascinating insects at close range. Eight educational stations guide guests through a self-paced tour, making it both an engaging and informative experience for all ages. A refreshment terrace serving lemonade, children's activities including puzzles and butterfly colouring sheets, and the warm multilingual hospitality of hosts Evelyne and Yolanda in French, Spanish, and English all contribute to the welcoming atmosphere. The garden opens seasonally from late April through early November, offering families and nature enthusiasts an unhurried, immersive encounter with the natural world in a peaceful rural setting.
