Lake Kawaguchi Monkey Showman Theater, known as Kawaguchiko Sarumawashi Theater, is a unique entertainment venue located on the north bank of Lake Kawaguchi at the foot of Mount Fuji in Fujikawaguchiko, Japan. The theater is dedicated to the traditional Japanese performing art of sarumawashi — trained monkey shows with a heritage spanning over a thousand years. Accommodating more than 600 spectators, the venue stages six or seven daily performances where highly skilled monkeys perform tricks including balancing on balls, drumming, and walking on stilts. Shows conclude with a handshake session allowing guests to meet the performers up close. The lakeside location also provides stunning views of Mount Fuji and colorful autumn foliage.
