Grugapark Essen is a magnificent municipal botanical garden and recreational park located in the heart of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and one of the most beloved green spaces in the Ruhr region. The expansive grounds encompass themed gardens including a rose garden, dahlia garden, rhododendron dale, herb garden, water-lily pond, and a garden for the senses, as well as three greenhouses housing tropical rainforest plants, succulents, and primeval flora from Australia and Southeast Asia. Beyond the botanical highlights, visitors enjoy a rope course, a maze, a park train leading to a small animal enclosure, and sports facilities for tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, and table tennis. The Kurhaus Blumenhof wellness center adds saunas and aqua-fitness options, while seasonal Parkleuchten light art events illuminate the park on special evenings throughout the year.
