Discovery Canyon

Discovery Canyon is a unique and beloved free outdoor water recreation area nestled within the River Bend Golf and Recreation Area along the Red Deer River, approximately 3.5 km north of the 30 Avenue and 67 Street roundabout in Red Deer, Alberta. Operated by the River Bend Golf and Recreation Society, this natural river-fed attraction features gentle tubing through shallow natural pools and a scenic lazy river, making it ideal for families, young children, and casual visitors seeking a relaxing summer outing. A nature-themed playground, concession stand, and washroom facilities complement the water experience on site. Tube rentals are available through an affordable bracelet system, and while lifeguards are not stationed at the site, the shallow water depth of approximately 2.5 feet and gentle slopes make it suitable for all ages and abilities. Discovery Canyon is open seasonally from June through the September long weekend, daily from 11 AM to 7 PM.
